Hello All,
As most of you probably know, Bob Seaborn's system has been down for several days.
Today I spoke with him and Bob told me that things do not look good for his OS/2 box that runs his Fidonet.
He told me that he cannot switch to any other OS such as Windows. I told him we could wait for him to get another OS going or whatever it takes. (I had to do this same thing when I went from OS/2 to Linux, I remember it took a while!)
He said he cannot get the Windows shares going no matter what he tries so he's leaving Fidonet. I tried to convince him to please wait, we have time, but he sure does NOT seem interested in trying.
The choice is his, as I mentioned to him.
His plan now is to put Dallas in as R17C as a temporary RC until Dallas can find someone else and Bob is planning on contacting Dallas today. Dallas has refused to take this on before however so I don't know where that is going to go.
I told Bob that I know we could put Robert E Starr in as R17C, and I'm sure Robert would agree to this, but Bob didn't like that idea ('You don't have a choice in this', I told Bob <grin>). Other people in R17 have refused to take on the job as R17C so there really is no other choice.
So that's where R17 stands right now <sigh>
