    I will certainly entertain any comments received before the actual
    start of the nomination period.

    My two cents is mostly common sense, which we all know isn't common. I guess I've seen way too many FTSC elections turned into raging debates.

    * Voter Eligibility:

    The eligible list is based on the Zone 1 segment of the FidoNet NodeList
    published on Friday, May 4, 2018 (Day 124.)

    To prevent people from "stuffing" the NodeList, I suggest that the publication date of the nodelist of record should be BEFORE the rules are final. I don't want anyone's pet goldfish to get a vote.

    Each sysop has one vote, regardless of how many nodes s/he
    operates.

    Nodes with more than one sysop get only one vote.

    Nodes marked 'Down' are not eligible to vote.

    Not all NodeList entries have real people in field 5. Does this mean that "NAB", "EchoList", "New_Sysop" and "Deceased" get a vote?

    And how many votes does this guy get...

    * Nominations, Candidates:

    Nominations will be placed in the Z1_ELECTION echo conference.
    To be
    a candidate, a FidoNet sysop must be seconded by another FidoNet
    sysop. In addition, due to the technical nature of the position,
    current or previous *C experience is required. An individual may

    Do we need to state that the candidate needs to be from Zone 1?

    * Who Wins?

    The winner will be determined as the candidate receiving more
    than half
    of the number of valid votes, otherwise known as an absolute
    majority.

    What happens if none of the candidates receives more than half the votes?

    * HOW TO VOTE:

    I like this! It reminds of the way we did votes in "the good old days"

    How about adding a line that says that the Enforcer has the final say in all disagreements and Candidate/Voter eligibility

    Hello everybody!

    Fred has some good points that he netmailed to me. Does anyone feel that we should revise the rules that were published before the beginning of the nomination period next week?

    I'd suggest the enforcer be asked to examnine each vote as it comes in and publish a "refusal to accept" based on what is obvious to those of us without an axe to grind! :-)

    Do we need to state that the candidate needs to be from Zone 1?

    Yes, probably <sigh>
