    Hi All,

    Does anyone know if WCCode written for WC 4.2 will run (All, None, some?) under
    Winserver? I'm not going to buy another WCCode for $100 lol!

    The WCX will not. However, if you have access to the source code and
    wcBASIC, then you can make the necessary adjustments and recompile the
    code -- or find someone who can do it for you :)

    Yeah it's all stuff I wrote from snippet mods, etc. thanks :)

    Is WCBasic anything like PowerBasic or MS-Basic/QBasic? one more thing, are the
    record formats for Winserver system files available somewhere?

    It's similar is some way in that is has the most common BASIC commands (PRINT, INPUT, etc -- although INPUT is broken in v7.0 and hector won't acknowledge it). Records format are available in the Wildcat! SDK package that you can
    get from SSI or from the Facebook Wildcat! Aliumni group. If you want to see what wcBASIC can do under Winserver, feel free to drop on by my BBS -- I run TONS of custom wcBASIC mods (right down to how the text editor works
    *smiles*). And, the best part is, you can even download shareware versions of what I write, too *smiles*.

    I just got wcbasic and wrote one simple line Print "test"
    complied it
    got some error forget what will get back to you on that well it complied ok ->but
    the error was when exicuting it something not found if forget what
    it will be a big challenge to learn this new basic also trying to set up ->casino
    in doors reading my book yet have yet to make it work

    Here's a hint - the wcCASINO pack is not a door. You have to log in using wcNavigator and set up a link to the main part of it in the web interface to your BBS. You cannot play the wcCASINO games via ANSI.

    Hi All,

    Can anyone tell me what is involved in migrating from WC!4.2 to Winserver? I have over 500 file areas and literally 10's of thousands of files. (g) Is there
    a conversion utility of some sort? I hope ... or I can write one if someone knows the Group/File database structure of Winserver?

    Looking at Feb 2016 for migration (native DOS WC!4.2 to Wins XP Pro SP3) with one serial dial-up and one telnet line under Winserver :)

    Also does Winserver do telnet or do I need a shim of some sort? Don't know Wins
    networking very well :( Just an old DOS guru {chuckle}

    1. You don't put WCXs in the doors menu.
    2. WCX files MUST reside in the main Wildcat! directory.
    3. To run a WCX using wcRUN, the correct switch to use is /R and not -R.
    4. Try putting the following lines at the beginning of each and every one of your wcBASIC scripts:

    #include "util.wch"
    #include "cmdline.wch"
    #include "dispfile.wch"
    #include "mylib.wch"
    if (GetNode() = 0) then
    LoginSystem()
    end if

    Also, you might want to take a look at the example code that is included with the wcBASIC package and play with that for a while before you begin really getting into wcBASIC. That and reading the WCIDE.CHM help file is always a good starting point, too, since IIRC there is no book included with the package.

    Hey there :) Migrating from Wildcat! 4.x and PX/DOS are both easy as
    the installers for both have an option to upgrade from the DOS versions
    to the Windows versions, which migrates all the database files
    automatically.

    As far as offering telnet, WINServer has that feature built into
    wcOnline -- which also does HTTP and POP3. wcOnline also handles modem connections as well. I've had mine set up that way before (and I still
    would, too, if I could just get my modem to work - I am sure Joe Martin
    wants his mail *smiles*).

    Hopefully this will answer your question. If not, drop me a note or
    you can give me a call voice.

    Hello Ben Ritchey,

    Winserver does telnet. Just "turn it on" in the set-up.

    Santronics has a FAQ for migrating files from the old system to the
    new system, including WC DOS to "Windows". It has been a long time
    since I did it but I think it is a matter of copying the "files"
    folder into the new set-up . . . but check the Wildcat site for the
    FAQ.

    Hope this helps,

    Fr. Paul

    Ok, thanks, but not to worry, I've got WC!4.2SL for DOS up & running under WinsXP (in a VM). Runs great, Winserver will have to wait!
