I have the unpleasant announcment reporting that Anton Yelchin, best known for playing Checkov in the new Star Trek films was killed in a car accident early Sunday June 19th 2016.

According to news media soures, "Yelchin, 27, was struck by his own car as it rolled backward down his driveway in Studio City, according to police Officer Jenny Hosler. The car pined Yelchin against a brick mailbox and a security Fence."

Just posted the press release. I doubt seriously they will find a better checkov than Yelchin... wonder how they are going to adjust it in the films if they have another sequel.

Thanks for the posting. I just saw the breaking news that I posted.

On other matters thanks for the news about B5 from JMS. That is one of my favorite series and I have "everything" on that on DVD. I saw the B5 Pilot a year before it came to TV as a test audience, it showed on four 16 MM film reels that JMS brought and the dubbing of the sounds was not completed as of then. The PPGs still went "bang" and other sounds like that. Not even sure
if it had been picked up by a studio for broadcast either at that time.
Looking forward to seeing it again and how they get around the members who
    have passed "Beyond The Rim"

    Write soon Allen!

Kind of like my Girlfriend at the time and I... we saw the "test showing" which was very rough on special effects of Harry Potter's first movie about a year before it was released. We were in a dumpy mall (which had a hogwarts feel to it) when we were aproached by a "marketing" company to come watch a test screeining of a movie.

It was rough... it was not complete, but strangely delightful. We had to sign paper after paper of legal stuff saying we would not discuss what we saw with anyone. I suspect the men in black would have showed up if they did.

We saw the first glimpses of the train, as that sequence was rendered... and we loved it. I've never got to do anything like that before ever again.

    Write soon Allen!

Sorry not sooner, I have had to do some medical junk the past two days.

Terrible news. He was an excellent actor. I read something about the car
accident, it seems that his vehicle had a problem described in a recall.

They might kill him off (which would be a blasphemy) or get him promoted and reassigned to another ship... The possibilities are endless.

    Hi Flavio Bessa!

Replacing a character with another actor is something that
    they never did.
It might work somehow, but... Star Trek is so personal, let's
    see.
Or they could just write in that he had a brother to keep the theme going :) Cheers,

I'm betting they will they will try and find someone else to take the character.
Checkov was too much a part of the storyline to write him out so early. Not the first time a character was replaced with a different actor.
