Allen I saw your comment about the new crew and the new movie over in the FIDO SYSOP area.

For me I don't mind the new characters, in fact some of them remind me of the TOS stars when they were very young actors starting out. They carry the mantra of their character well.

I can also understand that the look of the Enterprise is upgraded because of current technology. Don't forget when we saw some of these places in TOS we just saw part of them so we could imagine that they looked like they do now.

What I am not happy with is the direction that they story went, almost like they went into a parallel timline while the original TOS timeline continued like it always had been.

I would like to see the next movie, (this movie really), get us back to the TOS timeline in some matter. I just think that it would bring back many of the viewers who have abandoned the franchise because they got so far off of "cannon".


Star Trek is not the only franchsie that got messed with. Look at the others on TV and in the movies, Superman, Supergirl, Batman, Hawaii Five-O I'm sure you and everyone else can add others to this list.

The only way we can cure the "it's all been done" before syndrome is to undo a bit of the canon.

I'm hearing that DC has three different canon's going... the TV Show canon and the Movie Canon and then the comic canon does not mix. WHich works, gives different takes on the characters and we don't get board with the comics and then we don't go see a movie we've watched for three seasons on tv.

Well, according to current canon, the new movies' universe is called the
"Prime Universe", due to the fact that when Spock's ship crossed that tear in space, it got transported to a parallel universe indeed, and the romulan ship altered the entire timeline by destroying Dad Kirk's ship.

I don't know about you, but I cried when they destroyed Vulcan.

There has been many requests about it, especially by William Shatner, who has
been very interested into coming back, despite complaints from the writers, who
always whine that they can't "shove him in".
