Yep, it's like watching Fringe all over again expect they are spending more
time in space. I enjoyed the reboot from the point of view that it was something StarTrek on the big screen (for the first time ine ages) and felt
the actors did an ok job at playing the roles. I liked Nimoy being in it. Found it hard to see the way they adjusted things such as Kirk dies and is reborn vs Spock etc.

I think I still would have been happier if they had kept the original time line
and but still kept the younger crew.

Then again what do I know. Hollywood can't get it wrong. At least they won't admit that.

no probs... i agreeva younger cast and a time line that makes sence would
have been better but when younthink about it it only makes sence because we have already experienced that version of events ans as such the rest of it
    just seems darn weird.

... its late as i type this via an ipad so excuse the poor written reply and like you i too struggle to find the time to get onto fido... but always enjoy it when i do ;-)

I guess part of my problem is that I've read most of the books which extend the
cannon past just the original crews (all five crews). Some of the books are just fluff but others are really interesting and explain the origins of the Borg (I just finished this series). I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like these characters and want to see them continued.

    Stephen

P.S. Sorry for the late reply. It's summer here and I'm not paying as much attention to the BBS as I should be. Hope you enjoy your winter.

Hey no probs. It's Winter (as you know) so I am more inside than out and spending a bit more time on a PC that I should. Have a big walk in the warm sunshine for me and send the Vit D my way ;-P

Hello all. Up here in Canada, Space (a TV channel) is playing all of Voyager and TNG. They have been doing this now for a few years. In
the last few months I've been watching Voyager while eating breakfast.
I know Voyager was considered the bastard child of Trek but as I've
been rewatching it, I'm finding it really not that bad. Don't get me wrong it has it's fair share of bad episiods just like the rest.
Janeway to the rescue can get a bit old sometimes, and personally any episiod that revolves around the Holodeck are just bad.

What do others think about Voyager?

I'm watching through the Voyager episodes right now. As it was the only of the series
left where I've not already seen most of the episodes for that reason alone
    've
been enjoying it. I guess I like all the series, I even half liked Enterprise. ... MultiMail, the new multi-platform, multi-format offline reader!

I thought Voyager could get a bit corny at times with some of the jokes and dialogue,
but overall I enjoyed it. I don't mind the holodeck episodes much - In fact, those
were always some of my favorites (as well as the holodeck episodes in TNG). Of the
holodeck episodes, I particularly liked the ones with Fair Haven.

Overall, I thought some of the funniest episodes in Voyager were the ones revolving
around the doctor - Particularly, when he implemented the Emergency Command Hologram,
the one where he became very popular on a planet for singing opera, and when the
captain sent him to the alpha quadrant onto the other Starfleet ship and he interacted with a newer holographic doctor.

I think this will be my 5th time through voyager now. The one thing I do like about it (and DS9) is that it doesn't really rehash TNG or OS stories. Granted
there are only so many sci-fi stories out there so they will redo them some. It's the characters that make them good. That's what I liked about the first seasons of Voyager. It wasn't all about Janeway and 7of9. The later seasons really focused to much on those two characters.

That's where you and I differ is in the holodeck eps. I never did like those even in TNG. I like the idea of a holodeck and it should get some screen time,
but to center an episode around them just wasn't my thing.

The Doctor (Joe as he names him self) is a great character and show a lot of growth through out the series. I actually met Robert Picardo at a con one year. Seemed like a really down to earth guy but was very passionate about his
craft. At the dinner he did a skit with Marina Sirtis, John de Lancie, Ethan Phillips and Chase Masterson.
You could tell how much he enjoys acting. Even for only 75 people he put is all in to it. Ethan Phillips was pretty cool also. He didn't get in to it as much but was still very comedic. Chase Masterson did a song and dance number and was doing kicks in to the air. Funny thing is, it was my wife that pointed
out to me that you could see her underware in those kicks. She even got a picture (and no I won't post it).

Just some random thoughts as I remember them.

That's pretty cool. I was thinking about going to my local Comic Con several weeks ago because Wil Wheaton, Nichelle Nichols, and Walter Koenig were there, but I ended up having some other things going on that weekend. Would be cool to meet one of the Star Trek actors.

I would really suggest going sometime. I was able to take the family to the Calgary Entertainment Expo a few years ago when they had the entire TNG cast there. We where able to sit in on a bunch of panels but didn't get a chance to
meet any of them. They all wanted at least $25.00 for a signature.

Sorry for being so long between emails. Been a little busy around here.

Voyager grew on me -- I didn't like the Kes/Neelix story, but as
it went on, I liked the storylines about adjusting to life in
the delta quadrant. Year in Hell was a great story to me, on par
with Best of Both Worlds in TNG.

I find the series > Star Trek Continues < it look interesting
    only 4 episodes are available.

I've only watched a couple of the episodes and so far they are quite good. The stories are good so far. It is sometimes a little hard to get used to the new people playing Kirk, Spoke and the rest but really they do a pretty good job of it.
