From Ardith Hinton@1:153/716 to James Bradley on Thu Nov 5 22:16:38 2009
Hi again, James! This is a continuation of my previous message to you:

Lately, I caught a glimpse of a B+W skit that *was*
uproarious; where those many years ago, I couldn't
understand what all the hype was about. (How's the
    punctuation? }B-)

I knew you'd get the idea, once you'd thought about it. ;-)

Things like those movies, are often more entertaining
with a room full of "actors" to replace the sound track.
It usually improves the audio::video synchronization.
    (How's the "::=proportional to" liberty? }B-)

A single colon is often used to indicate a mathematical ratio... so
I think it makes sense in this context. But why the double colon? :-)

I recited the standard explanation, knowing such
things are usually simplistic & you'd be able to
    add some input.... ;-)

... And so contrary to what you know about the boots
I'm likely to die in? <ROTF>

Not really. I wasn't aware of your bursitis, but when a person has
inhabited the same body for four decades or more the list of things which don't
work quite the way they're supposed to may be extensive. I can't see either of
us becoming a couch potato within the foreseeable future, that's all... [grin].

The inflammation pain is a relief from the usual
maladies, so I repeatedly irritate it willingly.

I hear you, but I'm not sure I approve... [wry grin].

I doubt my MD does either, but he does know what I'm
    up to. <L>

    Okay.... :-)

Funny, it *was* an RN that was trying to teach a group
of seniors when the nay-sayer said what many - I suspect
    -were thinking.

Seniors... hmm. During the 1950's grownups often made remarks like
"Don't be silly, there's no such thing as [what I haven't seen with my own eyes
& probably never will because I don't hold with this nonsense]!" Very SJ. Not
all seniors are SJ's, of course, and not all SJ's are seniors. But this person
might encourage others to remain stuck in the 1950's if nobody objects.... :-)

I guess I took the opportunity to speak up and broadcast
the seed I had in hand in the hopes there was fertile
ground in better climes. It was an opportunity when I
    knew there was hostile attitudes,

Why... you young whippersnapper! How *dare* you arrive at your own
conclusions, even though you may be older than they were when they thought they
had everything all figured out? I like it. Stay as sweet as you are.... :-))

but more for the rest of the group - I didn't want
them to be swayed by one person who only thought
self-improvement was bottled by a guy named Smirnoff.

As they say in recovery circles... anesthetized time doesn't count.
Quite a few of the parents of my childhood friends seemed to be heavy drinkers.
People of their generation were emotionally repressed by today's standards, but
it is now known that unacknowledged feelings can show up in physical ways. :-)
