I can install rg0511 without much difficulty and when I upgrade it with
y2ka2, it turns out all messed up when I log in remotely using Net2BBS. Something is not right during the upgrade process. I do like the
presentation of the older Telegard / Renegade menu sets like you have now.
Is there some specific sequence I am missing during the upgrade process? I followed the directions in the upgrade doc.

If worse comes to worse, I could run rg990d and painfully change the menu sets

I am pretty sure I left this off for the time being but I will check. rg0511
by itself does not work with Net2BBS. When I update with Y2K, it will work
but seems to screw up after the logon process and won't advance to the main
    bbs menu.

Interestingly I reinstalled everything and when I logged into my account, I
got stuck after the logon screen. I tried something different. I logged on
as "new" and created a bogus account (which every sysop should do) and it worked perfectly and took me to the main menu. I didn't have any more time
to play but I am curious if an established account will get stuck and / or if
I have to re-create my sysop account after the upgrade.

What is the startup menu for the Sysop account?

regardless of what my start menu is, the results are the same. There is not a menu named "Startup" There is only a "Main" menu and, I have that configured for all users. Account statistics and flags match that as sysop with an SL
of 255. If it was a new user, as I found out, they would start out at the
main menu. Perhaps I could experiment with this but, this is treating the symptom and not the cause.

I addressed this in Email. Its the Sysop prompt and the string needs to be changed.

No, I ruled that out! I turned off the sysop PW function. This is what I
    know so far:

    1) When you logon and input your name and password, it goes right to new messages and hangs. If you try to type "N" for No to read new messages, it goes back to user name and password prompt.

    2) This only happens when I log on via telnet. When I log on locally, it
works perfectly fine. The sequence is: input name and password... it takes
you to the logon.ans i.e., that nice big RENEGADE. When you hit the enter
key after this, it takes you to the main menu. It only happens remotely.

    3) logging in as a new user remotely works fine.

I have one more trick to try and then I will throw in the towel or... I can have you logon as sysop and see what you think.

I am just really curious because if I / we can figure this out, it paves the way for others that want to run classic Renegade :)

This happens with the stock rg0511 without the upgrade. There is something not happening during the logon process when the sysop logs on. But if you are a new user, it works well.
