    That's what happened with me and Biden's "stimulus" package. I used check to pay off the rest of my wife's student loans. But come tax t more than normal - about the same as the "stimulus" check.
    I did the same I paid off my student loans as well.

    I found it very funny that went we went to pay off the loans (my wife had taken out 2) that we were greated with lots of messages along the lines of "We've paused the interest. Are you SURE you want to pay it off?"

    Almost as though they didn't want us to pay off the loan and "let is slide" for a while - and spend that money elsewhere.


    ... We'll burn that bridge when we come to it.
