• Out of budget

In the US, the government has indeed run out of budget. Many civil servants are at home without pay. Trump has already indicated that he wants to use this situation to permanently downsize the government. He hopes that civil servants will resign and find work elsewhere. This way, he hasn't laid anyone off and still created a smaller government. The work those civil servants did? Oh well, that's a problem for later.

    Hi,

today it occured to me that over here in Germany, a shutdown like the one
you are having not for the first time would probably lead to utter despair and many collective suicides. Most Germans just cannot live without a government telling them what to do and what not to do. So even though I
see the danger of Trump's policies (or should I say: of his character), I also look with admiration at the US for the mere fact that you are able to live through this :-).

    Best regards,
    Tobias
