    It is a great joy to me to announce the arrival of Liam Henry Shaw, born
    this morning just before noon in Washington, DC. He is my third

    One of a grandfather's duties is to recieve collect calls from a pre-school grandchild, who spends the better part of an hour talking about things you can barely understand, and pay the phone charges without complaint.


    Another main duty of a grandfather is to buy the preschool grandchild that radio controlled airplane with a four foot wing span, that forces the kid's father to spend hours helping the kid fly it `all by himself'.


    Another main duty of a grandfather is to buy the grandchild all those
    expensive toys the kid finds under the Christmas tree, that his mom and dad
    are either unable to afford, or too cheap to buy!


    Being a grandfather is fun (sometimes). Expensive, too.
