Shock Audio: Facing "Obligations" From Leadership, Democrat
Congresswoman Leaves Voicemail for Lobbyist Cash - Big Government

A couple weeks ago, House Member Eleanor Holmes Norton made a
fundraising call to a lobbyist. The lobbyist wasn't available, so
    Holmes Norton left a voicemail.

Once again, not-so-Breitbart lies and distorts.

Andrew Breitbart's Big Government is pushing what it calls "Shock Audio" RS>of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) soliciting a campaign RS>donation from a lobbyist. In fact, there is nothing unusual about RS>soliciting a donation from a lobbyist.

I notice you deleted the part that talks about much of what she did was in violation of Congress' own rules.

Here are just a `few' concerns:

She tells this lobbyist that she is a senior member of Congress who "...chairs a subcommittee highly relevant to his *sector*".

That is a veiled threat of possible problems with this `subcommittee' action
in his "sector" if donations to her are not forthcoming.

It is a violation to do what she's attempting here; 18 U.S.C. 600.

Further.....threatening to withhold or deny a government payment unless a political contribution is made......is guilty of a violation of 18 U.S.C. 601.

Now....lets go into the violation of Congress' own rules (which you *also* conveniently deleted):

    House Ethics Manual 2008 Edition:

p.147 "No solicitation of a campaign or political may be linked to an action taken or to be taken by a member...."

    The paragraph is quite lengthy.

Oh and by the way.....there's also the question of `from where' this phone
call was made! It is illegal to solicit campaign funds on federal property.

And it isn't as though this woman doesn't know all this. She has a degree in law from Yale.....clerked for a U.S. District judge, was a law professor at NYU, and is currently a tenured law professor at Georgetown University.

So much for your little `pooh pooh' of the facts.
