    ...

sites are now killing off print journalism, as Bob Ackley was
commenting on recently. So I expect politics to get even more angry
    and polarized.

Unfortunately I think you're correct. And it's spilling
over into the real world, too. Give a listen to Iowa's
Rep. Steve King, the man is an unabashed Nazi thug. Even
ordinary folks are getting meaner and nastier.

You get much the same thing in Fidonet these days also. Funny
    that.

Some people won't let ANY opening go unused. Even Obama's smoking
habit is fodder for attacks. And the last time I looked at his blog,

And the personal appearance of their wives and children. Even
the Mafia leaves the families out of it, but political
    commentators don't.

Andrew Sullivan was STILL hung up on the old rumor that Sarah Palin
didn't really give birth to her last child, and that Bristol was
    Trig's real mother!

I doubt that's true - too many people willing and able to
leak medical records regardless of the law. If it were
true the fact would have been published long ago.

True, yet the birthers keep claiming Obama is not a US citizen,
even though the records are under the control of republicans.

That said, that sort of thing - parents 'adopting' and
    raising their grandchildren
wasn't all that unusual a century or more ago. A 15 year

And is still fairly common today. Though it may be just assigned
as foster children under the foster care system.

Last I looked about 2/3rds of all adoptions were in family
    adoptions.

She probably bought it at the same place she bought her political

    Apparently her father shot it.

Then it has a legitimate story behind it.

Which makes one wonder why it would be a subject for debate. This is one thing that rubs my fur the wrong way with
    extreme partisans from both sides.

I.e. Bear skin rugs; deer and moose antler racks, etc. are
pretty common decor in the west and the northwest. ARen't
there enough real issues to pick on a political figure
    about?

And people wonder why Air America was greeted with a big
yawn after the novelty wore off. Many of the same folks who greet Rush and the
other pundits with the same gesture find it tiresome. IT accomplishes nothing
from either end of the spectrum except to make the noise machines look small and
renders them basically irrelevant. fOlks with brains and a
few clues filter out the noise and move on.

I'm not only picking on you about this sort of discourse
Ross. IT's what causes me to grow more and more disgusted
with the state of political discourse throughout our
country. THe big media organizations foment it, and online
political discussion groups just give us more of the same
    ole same ole.

Sadly, I don't see it getting any better any time soon. When radio talk
shows took off, we got people who spent three hours every weekday attacking
one political party or the other. After the factual content of issues (if
any) got covered, they filled in with cheap shots, sarcasm, personal
    attacks, and comedy skits.

Then came the second and third 24-hour cable news outlets. They have to
fill up time too, so on weekday evenings we get competition between the
clowns on Fox and the clowns on MSNBC. And free internet sites are now
killing off print journalism, as Bob Ackley was commenting on recently. So
I expect politics to get even more angry and polarized.

Yeah, Rush Limbaugh is like that all the time, but you left out the fact
    he's a stinking liar.

    Especially the Fox nuts.
A university jus this week released a study showing Fox viewers were
most likely to be misinformed on the issues.

How does Fox respond? They attack the university.
    (Using false information, natch.)

Sarah can clear all that up, all she has to do is release the birth certificate!
    (Sound familiar?)

BTW, latest Palin rumor (I saw it on one of those supermarket tabloid
covers,) is that Sarah's 16-year old daughter is also preggers now.
Of course, these are publications that fire reporters for being too
    factual...
