I know that feeling! Back a few years ago i had a lightning bolt take a EK>direct hit to a phone pole in front of our house. Major damage ensued and EK>it
didn't help having surge strips and ups. Saw fire shoot out of my cable EK>modem. OUCH!

Bill,
Trying to connect to your system.... keep getting a timed out. Please poll
system at 1:266/404
If it requires a password, I will need it. Otherwise, Internet Rex
will abort.
For whatever reason, I can connect to other systems via Internet Rex, but they can not connect to me. I have checked the firewall settings,
port settings, etc., and even allowed non-listed systems to connect,
but it still does no good, and I have no idea why.
Besides, each lightning bolt:Has
1) Is 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5 times hotter than the sun's surface) 2)
300,000 volts and 30,000 amps of electricity 3) Can strike as much as 20miles
from the parent storm (bolt from the blue)
Then you should think about dumping IRex and switching to binkd as you are BM>running a CM flag and should be able to accept incoming calls even from thos BM>who do not have a session password.
Binkd is very easy to setup. If you need help, then please let me know.
Read the reply to your post in IRex... I would check with dyndns to
see why your IP isn't resolving. Either that or change your INA to
a numerical one.
A couple of years ago a nearby - 1/2 mile away - strike on the power line BA>destroyed insulators and lightning protectors for miles in both directions.
The fellows replacing the insulator on the transformer serving my house
showed me the fried insulator, a ceramic unit about 13" long and 6" in BA>diameter. That strike blew the transformer on the pole it hit, fried BA>everything that was connected to the line in the house nearby - whether it BA>was on or not - and fried the well pump that was 200 feet down the well BA>hole
Binkd is very easy to setup. If you need help, then please let me know.
A few questions:
1) Where can I obtain it??
2) Will it work under Windows 7 32-bit??
3) Is it registerable?? If not, is it crippleware??
4) If registerable, is it shareware?? If so, how much??

I had sent a netmail to my nodelist coordinator (I'm a regional independent, since I'm the only BBS in Arkansas), but it must have
gotten lost in the shuffle.

That reminds me of a joke where "things got lost in the translation".
In one overseas hotel, the "English Translation" came out as "Guests
are invited to take advantage of the chamber maid". <G>
Marc Lewis was in my system remotely on Friday, and we fixed the
"ping issue" (I had the router set to block all anonymous connects). Sometime later this weekend, he'll work on seeing why Internet Rex
isn't responding.

Thanks for the reply.
I had Marc Lewis work my system remotely, and he fixed the "ping

get with me sometime this weekend to try to get IREX working, where
folks can connect to it.

Or, they had the choice of "F Or G" (sorry, couldn't resist the pun).

I ran a program I got from portforward.com -- it shows the port is
open in the router, but canyouseeme.org can't find it. So, I guess
Comcast is blocking it.
Lightning dances around my apartment like an ungrounded Faraday cage
