• The Rules

From Earl Croasmun@1:124/311 to All on Sat Jul 3 21:46:12 2010
I posted the rules back on March 7, and they are unchanged from that
posting. But since a sad malcontent is misrepresenting them in another
    echo, here they are again:

    - - - - -

This echo is intended as a place where people can discuss politics. It
is MY place, but I am inviting you to participate. If you participate
by posting messages here, you are agreeing to follow certain rules. If
at any time in the future I do not want you in my echo, I will ask you
    to leave.

    1. Do nothing even close to illegal. No threats of physical violence.
No threats of legal action. No libeling of anyone, whether participant
or non-participant in Fidonet. And when I say "nothing even close," I
mean just that. Don't try to play any "right up to the brink and then
    stop" games.

    2. Leave people's outside lives outside. If you feel the need to insult someone, insult them. But don't attack their parents, spouses, children, employers, employees, and so on. If someone posts an echo message
volunteering the information that they once did prison time, for
example, they have opened the door to discussion of that information.
But if YOU log into, for example, the Ohio Department of Corrections web
site and discover that they did prison time, keep that information out
    of the echo.

    3. Use your own name. If you are going to say something in a public
forum, attach your name to it and accept responsibility for it. If you
post a message in this echo you are attesting that the name attached to
it is your real name, and by your action you are granting permission to
the moderator and your sysop, node, host, or any other intermediaries to
    verify that identity.
