Hello all!
Doing some housecleaning on this warm SAturday afternoon,
and got into a conversation with my lady about those dog
gone soda pop cans that used to accumulate around here, but
that we just toss in the regular garbage to be disposed of
when the truck comes by on MOnday morning.
Yah yah, I know, this stuff is recyclable. Back in Iowa I
used to take them to the courtesy counter at the store, a
nickel a can, they had to be clean, and not crushed.
Around here there are folks who will buy this aluminum,
crushed, any condition, just sorted out, but they're
somewhere else, and storing the cans is a pita, then loading and unloading, waiting in line, etc. <arrrgh> costs me
more than I make.
YEs I try to rinse them out when we're done with them to try to keep little creatures from getting sustenance from the
reamining contents.
For awhile once we moved to this location we saved them for
a neighbor, but that became a pita, we don't own a
compactor.
There are probably numerous other materials we throw out
that are recyclable, but getting it to those who'd want it
isn't cost effective, so the trash disposal folks get it
all. <oh well>.
Just a short rant on a Saturday afternoon as I remain in
front of the air conditioner <grin>.
Regards,
Richard
