evilest form of life this planet has ever produced.

Wow. I didn't know that. They're a special vile breed of liberal? Makes sense.

Now, I don't mean to take a lot of credit here, but it was a nice place when I lived there...and the first two years of college were
free...since I left it has plummeted down hill. (Of interest only to my own memory banks: When I first started at KABC Los Angelus I replaced a former Governor, the first Brown, Edmund....ah, yester-year - a weird life...) ->

I was living in the South Bay area of the LA Basin when Ronny Ray-guns was first running for a chance to shut down Jesse Unruh. KTLA (I think - Channel 5 anyway) had a news clip of a Ray-guns fly-around where he said one thing in Marin County and something 180° different in Orange County. When the Channel 5 reporter asked Ol' (even then) Ron about the juxtaposition he denied he had ever uttered the statement(s) up north in Marin. At which point the reporter fired back - "Yes you did, I have it on film!" And proceeded to show the two clips back-to-back. Yet the voters elected him ... so much for the "Kalyfornya liberals". It was the wing-nuts philosophically aligned with Orange County and Joe Pine who held sway.

BTW - Pat Brown was a pretty damned good governour. Just not very photogenic nor exciting. And, as I remember, a popular bumper sticker of the day was "If it's Brown - FLUSH IT!"

Nice riposte! Of course it's funny that the "Kalyfornya liberals" shot was aimed at me, a resident of Illinois and former vice-president of the Young Republicans chapter here. Not to mention an avid Barry Goldwater supporter/campaigner.

It's a shame what passes for conservative thought these days.

That's because today's conservatives are in love with the myth of Ronald Reagan.

The actual Ronald Reagan would be shunned.

Today's conservatives are the party of Teabaggers, Sarah the Quitter and
    the GOP noise machine.

Yep. Joe Pine and I worked in three different stations: Phoenix, Montreal,
    and LA.
Joe Pine knew how to be outrageous; today he'd be a middle of the roader...

wOuld agree with that assessment. Haven't recalled that
name for years, but used to enjoy his TV show on SAturday
nights. NOw there could be a shoutfest, but you could learn a thing or three watching that show.
Especially the segment where he allowed average folks in the "beef box" to stand up and bitch for awhile about their main complaint <g>.

BTW - Pat Brown was a pretty damned good governour. Just not very photogenic nor exciting. And, as I remember, a popular bumper

Jerry never made it to his dad's level though imho. I had
friends and a couple relatives out there at the time who
    liked Governor Pat.

Goldwater was a true conservative, in all that it implies.
HE must be spinning in his grave at what some of these folks tout as conservatism.
