  • Crash mail

    Hi all,

    How can I get PCBoard to understand that it has to send crash mail to
    an UUCP address?

    Normally I can fill the recipients name@node in the To: field of
    a message but when I want to send a crash netmail I don't have the
    space in the To: line of my QWK reader for much more than the
    UUCP@node/number and a few empties.

    On the first text line in the message I have to write
    To: receivers.name@email.com

    I'm running my PCBoard barefoot with an off-line reader/editor so what
    I have done now is to see to it that the crashmail can be sent before
    any polling event by separately upload that netmail before any other
    outgoing echo mail and then manually have PCBoard to scan for netmail
    out and then manually again still in the Fidonet window send it out.

    Is there any place where that C+ command could be placed so that PCBoard understands to automatically send it immeadetely?

    Adressing a normal netmail as crash mail is easily done by writing only
    the recipients name in the header and then his node number folowed by C+
    on the first line of the text area. Fido to email does however require
    the UUCP gateway.

    My problem stems from the fact that I have a grandson visiting the US
    until dec 10th and I want my UUCP netmail to reach him in the morning
    there instead of in the evening. He has an email account of course.

    Time difference you know.

    we are using REXD for all mail exchange with PCBoard to Fidonet / UUCP / regular email.
    Binkd included provide TCP/IP connection to all gateways, i know more 1
    or 2 solutions, but Rex fill our needs.

    Let me know what yu need.

    I don't think your UUCP is working. I never see any alt.bbs.pcboard
    messsages here; there are many recent posts to that newsgroup.

    Same for email. When I send myself a test email from your board, to an
    outside email address, I never receive it.

    I looked at some other usenet areas, like Perl, and they seem to have
    current messages. Maybe your gateway does not carry alt.bbs.pcboard.

    I also noticed the Perl messages had a tagline from some other BBS.
    Looks like they are dong the actual gating between usenet and fidonet.

    An alternative method, possily better, would be getting UUCP batches
    directly from eternal september, and using the PCBoard UUCP to import

    I have all variants of IREX in my file depository but I like to run PCB "barefoot". By all I mean OS/2, DOS, 32-bit DOS, Windows and Linux so
    it seems I have what I need to expand PCB. So far I have done OK without
    Bink.
