• Virtual machine for Snow Leopard

From "jayant m"@1:3634/1000 to All on Mon Dec 14 01:15:52 2009

now that I've got a new Mac, I can't run my version of Parallels anymore. At the time I bought it, Parallels was the only option.

Does anyone have insight into what virtual machine would be best for running ecs under Snow leopard would be? Free is obviously better but I don't mind paying.

    Thanks
    Jayant

I can't answer the question, but I also need the answer as I have Snow
Leopard on a MacBook and was planning on buying Parallels so I can install eCS!

There are new versions of Parallel and VMWare for Snow Leopard.

I have no idea how either of them reacts with ecs. I do know that the revi= ews that I have seen of Parallel have not been very positive, but most deal=
t with running Windows 7 or Vista and not ecs.

Parallels 5.0 runs eCS 1.2 and the 2.0 Silver Release fine.

On WSE2009 there was a nice presentation on virtualisation.

Precisely what I needed to know. Will download Parallels this afternoon!

    Thanks much!

To add to this and provide alternatives, I've now tried VirtualBox. Although not as intuitive as I might have liked (no single button setup), only a little playing around got it to import my Parallels v2 installation. Some issues that I will fix eventually, such as network setup but so far, in limited use, it has done at least as well as Parallels 2.0.

I believe that this was built from Innotek code and just shows how things might have gone with some different direction/options.
