currently running 3.5.3 which is horribly unstable and tends to lock up machines.

What's better and where can I find it?

Just last month I determined to upgrade from Firefox v2 ....

v3.6.13 did not work for me; and I don't recall why.

v3.5.16 is working nicely; every now and then it just dies, but doesn't take the system down with it, and its state is recoverable. It solved the printing problem by creating .PDF files in the program directory or desktop, which suits
    me just fine.

I run it with No-Script and RequestPolicy extensions.
