    Hi Bob,

    I think that the following should give you what your are
    looking for;

    http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/35be.htm

    For more PC330/PC350 info;

    http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/101e2.htm

    It looks like a quite interesting site;

    http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/

    Thanks a million. I made a special trip over to the library in
    Red Oak Friday and ratholed a bunch of material off that site
    onto a CD. I'll probably spend some more time gathering the
    rest of it.

    After I did all that I looked more closely at the label on the inside
    of the machine's case. The password reset switch is clearly located
    and labeled on the diagram <sigh>.

    The box is up and running. It has DR-DOS version 7 (aka Novell DOS)
    and Windows 3.1 on it. I thought it had Warp 3 on it, oh well.

    The system clock isn't working though, and while I can set it the thing
    doesn't stay set. I'm going to swap out the battery on the mobo and see
    if that helps.

    don't ya hate it when that happens??

    to a point, they can be easy to confuse... that point being up to where the GUI
    loads :)

    $$$ to donuts says it will definitely help... unless the board is damaged... i've had to throw out several because the soldered on batteries corroded and ate the board... they weren't worth the time to try to repair them either so in
    the bucket they went...

    Not really an OS/2 problem, an IBM hardware problem. IIRC OS/2 is loaded on
    the HD, but I can't get that far.

    I have lost/forgotten the power on password for an IBM PC-350, type 6586
    model
    37F, which is a P75 box. Or perhaps the password has become corrupted, the machine had not been powered up for several (5 or more) years. I did have
    to replace
    all of the RAM sticks to get it to power up without screaming (three very
    long beeps,
    nothing else, no display, no nothing); now it does the POST and then asks
    for the password
    - which I don't have, the machine doesn't accept or recognize what it's
    supposed to be if
    present.

    On the PS/2 (I have several) there's a jumper that, if set or changed
    depending on model,
    wipes or clears the power on password. There's a similar arrangement on
    early model
    Thinkpads, of which I have several. I can't find any such jumper on this
    box's motherboard
    - it may be there, it just isn't intuitively obvious - which is
    understandable.

    Does anyone know how to bypass/reset/defeat the power on password on this
    machine?
    I'm pretty sure IBM hasn't included such a feature on any of its recent
    hardware offerings
    for security reasons, but this machine dates from about 1996 and may
    still have it.
