• [OS2HW] cdrecord2 vs. my t42

From "Steven Levine"@1:3634/1000 to All on Mon Dec 27 19:01:14 2010

    Hi,

I've got a T42 with a DVD multi drive that reports itself as Matshita
DVD-RAM UJ-812 K104 and I'm having problems convincing cdrecord to burn
CDs with either cdrecord2 or cdrecord. I usually use cdrecord2.

I suspect the drive might be failing.

I am pretty familiar with cdrecord and use it without problems on several
other systems, so it is unlikely that I have a setup problem. While I
don't burn CDs very often on this system, I'm pretty sure that I burned a couple CDs just a few months ago.

The drive seems to read fine, it's just writing that is an issue.=20
Cdrecord2 generates odd errors to the effect that trying to burn at low
speed on high speed media is not allowed. Cdrecord runs without errors,
but the resulting CDs are not readable.

    cdrecord2 - inq reports

    Identifikation : 'DVD-RAM UJ-812 '
    Revision : 'K104'
Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-R/DVD-RW.

I uses aspirout, so the aspinkk$ reference is expected.

The mmc2 reference looks odd. I would expect to see mmc3.

Can anyone with a T42 provide the output of

    cdrecord2 -inq
    cdrecord2 -prcap
    cdrecord2 -atip

The last one requires a CD-RW or CD-R in the drive.

    Thanks,

    Steven

On my desktop (where I burned an audio CD last week) I get (with no media):

The aspinkkk$ bothers me (I have it in config.sys for dvddao), as does the = cuss msg about=20
    buffer locking.

I don't have cdrecord currently installed on my T60
