Hi all,
Has anyone on the group used a Samsung ML-2525 printer (mono-Laser)
under OS/2-eCS?
Machine is USB-connected only and may be able to be connected with Paul
Smedley's eCUPS, as there is a .PPD file included on its CD for use with
Macintosh. also Samsung have a Unified Linux Driver for Linux, which
makes it seem hopeful. I queried Paul, but he's obviously busy at work
in Adelaide, South Australia.
It is pretty remote from me (it's in the other EST timezone,
N.Hemisphere!), so I can't personally check it out.

Mike
I don't know this specific printer but if iirc some Samsungs and
Lexmarks are the same under the plastic.
As you have a ppd what I would do is first try and import it into the pscript driver. To my experience MAC or win ppd does not matter, my
newish Lexmark just fell into place. Use Alex Taylor's install print
driver app ( e.g. inst_pd104.zip), which is I believe may be in the
eCUPS package and try that. If the printer is not already in the eCUPS package you will have to import the ppd anyway.

Hi Jim,
That's precisely what _I_ would do, but unfortunately both the printer
and user are in the USA, I'm just assisting him!
not a how-to question, but a compatibility question - though it looks
good as there is not only a Linux Unified Driver (32.2MB) on the Samsung support site, but also a (15.8MB) Smart Panel for Linux.
Note for the Windows 7 version of the software they recommend having 16 *GIGABYTES* of HDD-space available!
WXP _only_ needs 1.5GB, Macintosh and Linux 1GB - eCS a lot less! :-)
Regards,
Mike
