  • [OS2HW] Need printer suggestion

From "Julian Thomas"@1:3634/1000 to All on Fri Jul 8 13:25:09 2011

Our Canon S900 is failing (one nozzle seems to be clogged and an attempt at cleaning the head didn't do any good). The print head is a discontinued part, and in any rate would cost more than we paid for the printer.

So - we need suggestions for a new printer.

    OS2/eCS support is a must.
    8.5x11 OK.
we do not print photos on photopaper
Replacement ink costs must be reasonable.

The printer should work if used only occasionally.

Would consider a color laser but cost is a factor.

    Hi Julian,

I've been happy with networked color laser CP1518ni from HP, using cups
drivers on MCP2. (oddly can't access pmshell to ascertain the details)

Cartridges are expensive, but they don't dry out like the jet printers,
and my use is sporadic, so laser cost per page is better for me than if
    I printed daily on inkjet.

Usually toner is cheaper for the amount you get versus ink cartridges. Besides
the advantage of not drying out.
