  • [OS2HW] USB 2.0

From "Duncan Way"@1:3634/1000 to All on Fri Nov 12 10:52:09 2010

My system is Warp 4 fp15; two usb 1.1 controllers (OHCI) and one usb 2.0 (EHCI)
    on the
motherboard. I also use a usb 2.0 capable (powered) 4 port hub.

Is Warp 4 capable of usb 2.0 speeds, particularly with an external hard drive?

The external drive delivers 2.0 speeds with WinXP but not with OS/2.

Am I stuck with this current setup?

    Thanks,
    Duncan Way

Is that because you are using FAT32? Have you tried using FAT16, HPFS, or
JFS? The FAT32.IFS for OS/2 is known to be slow.

I see this in Hobbes incoming, http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/incoming/usbcomusb2.zip with the description adds USB 2.0 support to USBCOM.SYS
Let us know if it works

usbcom.sys is for USB modems. His problem may be either the FAT32 driver
as Steve pointed out, or maybe the USBMSD.ADD or the USBEHCD.SYS is
outdated if he is using Warp4 instead of eCS or the MCP.

OK, my bad. I'm kind of surprised that any USB modem would need 2.0
    support

I am using FAT32 since I use the drive for backups on both Warp and WinXP.

    FAT16: I believe I can't format the whole 320GB using this.
HPFS: I can't format the whole 320GB, can't use multiple partitions because only
one partition (the first) is made available. WinXP can't use HPFS.
JFS: I'm not running ECS or MCP. Again, unusable with WinXP.
