printer + ppd file, and we even wouldn't have to worry about CUPS.
Did I read it right?

In the \ecs\bin directory there is a file InstPDR.EXE. Are you referring

I am tired of buying reconditioned gray market printers from Fry's

You don't mention if you need color. If you don't, there are a number ofdecent lasers available
for well under $500. If you do, you are probably better off with an inkjetfor good photo printing;
look for one that will work under eCS and that has separate ink cartridgesfor each color, or at

You're right, I forgot that color is a must. You told me that laserjets
are not so good for photos, so I will look for an ink jet.
The one I now have has all of the features you mentioned, except that it
is hard to find ink cartridges for it. I was hoping that someone would already have done the leg work and could help me.

Are you willing to use CUPS on OS/2 (eCS) ? It does have a simple wpi install process now, but it is a little more complex than a native OS/2 driver. The advantage being that a far wider range of printers are supported.
Ed,
Yes of course!

From recent posts, the only advice I can rely is look for a postscript printer (non-host aka win-printer, so that the logic board is in the printer) and APPARENTLY if you have the PPD file for the printer you can update the generic OS/2 PSCRIPT driver to support the printer. NOTE: I

I use the C9500 Laserjet here as well with my MFC-9840CDW, but with the Postscript driver and the 9840 PPD I get support for everything including enhanced resolution and duplex printing. I use the Laserjet driver mostly because I can never get Lucide to print using the postscript driver.
