SV: Good grief. This idiot celebrates the loss of jobs at Hummer SH>facilities???

To him.....being jobless is a `status symbol'! Since he doesn't have a job he thinks nobody should have a job. The more people who lose their jobs, the better he feels about himself.

Do I have a personal gripe with them? Damn right I do.
Several times I've nearly been reduced to a red smear while riding my bicycle by those monstrosities.
Yes, I've nearly been run over by other vehicles too, including a couple near-misses by a "smart car." (Or whatever they call that ugly little
    two-seat car.)

So the bottom line is that you don't like anything? How much have you had SH>to drink today, Otto?

    Or snorted.

I find that hard to believe. I could believe the kid was
riding a bicycle (or motorcycle), hit the car, went
sailing and broke his neck on landing. BTW one couldn't
run into the fin without running into the side of the car,
the fins on Cadillacs just weren't that big; IIRC the
biggest fins were on the '57 through '61 Chrysler products
    (Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Imperial, deSoto).

I remembered reading it somewhere, but couldn't remember
    where.

Did some research last night, found it again. It was
mentioned in Ralph Nader's book, "Unsafe At Any Speed."

That book was fiction back when Nader wrote it back in the early
1960s - IIRC I was in HS at the time. 'course, Nader was able to
build a very nice career from it.

So that tells me it most likely is an urban legend, or
    something Nader made up.

I suspect that is the case.

The problem is Nader's book wasn't entirely fiction.
Cars in the late 50's and early 60's could be really junk.

And GM could have just ignored Nader, thus ending the problem.
Instead they put a private investigator onto Nader to dig up dirt.
    Very dumb mistake.

Nader nowadays is nearly all ego.

The problem in North America, is that bicycles and motor vehicles
don't have the same attitudes to each other as in Europe.

I never saw the need for a Hummer on the street, in fact a waste of engineering. When I found out that the "Smart Car" was made by

I don't know where you are riding your bike Ross, but some places

NEver did either, off road vehicles are for those who have a
*need* to use them off road. OTherwise, in regular driving conditions they can be as much hindrance or hazard as
anything. I.e. high center of gravity hinders
    maneuverability in traffic, etc.

The main problem ROss has on his bike is the same problem
many who utilize motorcycles, from the little barely more

    I live in Sheboygan, WI.
Very few bike lanes or paths, the only real bike path is the Old Plank
Road trail, it runs from Erie and Kohler Memorial Drvie, out all the way
    to Plymouth, about 25 miles.

Far too often drivers of cars are oblivious to bicycles and for that

And I've seen my share of those on bicycles ignoring traffic laws,
running red lights, etc, mostly teenage kids.
