• How to edit initrd.gz ?

From Vitaliy Orekhov@2:5020/848.182 to All on Tue Jan 24 22:27:40 2017
    Hello, All.

    How can I do this?
I read the manual about the "gunzip" command and my brain stuck. Which commands
should I use to unpack it and pack it then?
I need to do this because there was no firmware for that (censored) Wi-Fi module named BCM4312.
When I have found the firmware files (thanks to the Ubuntu Forum), I had no idea how to paste these firmware files to the "/lib/firmware" folder of the initrd.gz.
Any ideas how to solve the problem, which I wrote in the subject?

    Update:
Now I know how to pack/unpack the ram disk image. After several times of trying
    it working, I got nothing.
Of course, the installer can't detect the HDD. Even copy-paste of the drivers from linux-image-extra gave me nothing.
