• SDL1 Lib v. DFSG

From Rick Christian@1:135/377 to All on Sat Nov 26 17:24:16 2016

    Hello everybody!

In looking at a program that requires libsdl2 I see the repos have libsdl2+DFSG...

Well as soon as that DFSG is listed that means something has been left out....

Nothing google returns other than links to that DEB list what the issue is...

Any one know what was REMOVED from the libsdl2 release for the libsdl2+DFSG in the repos for 14.04???

    Rick

why does it matter? what programs are you trying to use/compile/install that require that library? the only ones i know of are netrunner and, i think, syncterm...

I believe Syncterm still uses SDL 1.x. Netrunner ventured into the 2.x realm but there were plenty of side effects and bugs that weren't able to be fixed until SDL2.x was updated. James had reported those bugs in SDL2.x and it took them quite awhile to fix them. Obviously an ANSI telnet client wasn't on the top of their "fix-it" list. :)

Not always just that, but often that's so; yes.

One place to look is the copyright file provided in the debian pkg, to see if they're using the 'Files-Excluded' keyword, which in this case it is:

    Files-Excluded: Android.mk
    android-project
    debian
    VisualC
    VisualC-WinRT
    Xcode
