That is pure, unadulterated, psychobabble and has no connection to
reality.
And just how do you know this?
Your church inform you of it, the same way Scientology teaches that RS>psychiatry is false?
Scientology is more a danger to society than a religion in the true sense.
Mormonism is far above Scientology.
The fact is, this study is goring your particular sacred cow, Ed, namely RS>your own belief that those without religion are unhappy.
Its amazing to see you make statements like that sometimes, knowing your circumstances in life.
Maybe if you had a little religious upbringing, you'd have learned more about self-reliance than you know.
You might have developed the inner strength of character to be a success in life.
You might have learned to finish things you start, to discharge the responsibilities you take on voluntarily, like the Air Force.
You might have developed the inner strength to overcome your `headaches' by a little perserverence and self-determination.
You might have developed a personal desire to be as honest and truthful as you could possibly be, whatever the personal cost.
You might have gained the capability to ignore your personal sufferings and be a productive, self-supporting individual.
You laid down in life because of a few headaches, which you point to as why
you are in the circumstances you are.
If you had gotten a little religion when you were younger, you might not believe the `mystic' side of it, but the lessons in personal morality, self- reliance, caring for others, overcoming personal adversity in your own life, and giving a little of your success to others, would be priceless.
I see people every day who are in far worse physical circumstances than you, who go to work and support themselves. People who have to live their life confined to wheelchairs. One individual in a wheelchair works as a stock
chaser and customer's aid in Home Depot locally. Another has to ride the trolley downtown every day to work.
They do for themselves in `spite' of their physical limitations.
With a little religious instruction in your life, you might have been able to do for yourself in spite of yours as well, instead of using yours as an
excuse to lay about doing nothing all day.
I've watched you disparage religion out here for many years, now, and you've only made it obvious to me that you know very little, if anything, about religion, or its uses.
Nobody has to `have' the belief that those without religion are unhappy. A glance at *you* is enough to pretty well clinch it! *You* are the poster boy for exactly what you denounce.
I'd advise you to do a little studying on `religion', and its moral, and character-building principles, before you denounce anyone for what you
percieve as their `beliefs'.
