A few CHANGES for my entry.

System.......The Thunderbolt BBS
FidoAddress..1:19/33
The address is now 1:2320/33 -- I changed hubs, with Marc Lewis's system possibly shutting down with a job change. I'm still waiting for word on the finality of that.
OS...........Windows 7 Professional
It's now Windows 10 Professional (32-bit). Since Microsoft is ENDING
32-bit support with Windows 10 (Windows 11 is 64-bit only), I'm staying
with Windows 10.
Sorry I haven't updated this sooner. With numerous medical issues,
including 3 Emergency Room trips and 2 hospitalizations in the last 3
months, the BBS has taken a back seat of sorts.
Daryl, you are now listed twice in the nodelist: as 1:19/33 and NOW
also as 1:2320/33, in Kentucky's network - that's a bit insane since
you don't have to change your node number when your feed changes.
Weird is all I'm saying here.
Got the changes for the list.
Hope you are doing ok.
But, I didn't want to lose the FIDONet feed.
There won't be any more OS updates, in regards to Windows. Microsoft
ENDS 32-bit support with Windows 10.
Remember, the days of costly modemcalls are gone ... I'm just as expensive as Janis is ... well, maybe she has better taste ... 8-)
What's wrong with the current versions?
I only switched from XP to 7 because the new motherboard couldn't
handle XP anymore...otherwise I'd still be on XP for Fido.
Hmm. Yes, I may have better taste than you...
But Ward, Daryl is not one of my downlinks, and never has been.

I upgraded the laptop to Windows 11 overnight, as it was able
to take the upgrade. However, the desktop computer with the BBS
is only with a 32-bit CPU, so it stays with Windows 10.

What's the CPU? A Pentium-4 or earlier?
So, what is the difference with Win11 versus Win10? Have you seen any?

First, I've only used it since yesterday, so I haven't seen much.
For me what blows me away is the loss of "labeled" Taskbar
items. Everything is now icons that you must hover over in
order to figure out what the heck you've got open.
Hate it, hate it, hate it... its like Microsoft wants to
be Chrome-OS.

Truthfully, I have no idea. It was my late Mom's desktop
computer. Apparently the CPU is too slow, and will not run 64-bit programs, which Windows 11 requires.
However, with medical and other issues, I can't afford to
upgrade, and I really don't want to give up a whole slew of
legacy doors, that for the most part, are registered.

I don't use Windows, but I'm pretty sure you can run legacy doors on 64-bit these days. Something to do with a 64 version of "NTVDM" or something similar.
But I do get the idea of not wanting to upgrade just because there's a
new version available. No great reason to do that on a machine being
used to run a BBS.

There is no NTVDM in 64-bit, so you can't run the legacy 16 or
32-bit programs.
There are ways to do it. Here is one:

I'll look at it later. My back is hurting real bad this morning from sitting in the computer chair too long. If I can get it to work, I may look at moving the BBS stuff over to the laptop.
You may also try using a remote control tool (VNC or whatever) to
access your node from the laptop. I'm doing that with TightVNC right
now.
