Supreme Court Protects Violent Video Games

Once again it seems that some of the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court are sitting on their brains. I was just reading an article in the New York Times entitled "Justices Reject Ban on Violent Video Games for Children". It
concerns the fact that this past Monday, by a vote of 7-2, the Supreme Court
in its "superior wisdom" struck down a California law, the purpose of which
was to ban the sale of violent video games to children.
Once again I have to ask "What were these justices thinking?! What were they smoking?!"
According to these seven "wise sages", the right to sell violent video games
to minor children is protected by the First Amendment.
Well, they say that you are what you eat. We can extend that adage to
include "You are what you watch" and "You are what you play".
Is it really any wonder that the United States of America has become such a violent, warmongering nation, when from the time that they are young,
children freely view tons of violence of every kind on the television set;
they are deluged with every act of imaginable violence in movies; they hear extreme violence expressed in songs on the radio; they see gross violence graphically depicted in comic books; and they get to maim, torture and kill imaginary enemies in their violent video games?
From these seven Supreme Court justices, to the greedy violent video game makers, to irresponsible parents, there is plenty of blame to go around.
God help us all!
