• What is your Citizenship? Your Vision?

From Jeff Snyder@1:345/3777 to All on Wed Apr 13 10:55:00 2011
All this talk of patriotism and citizenship that goes on in the secular
world. There is only ONE citizenship with which we Christians should concern ourselves, and that is the following one that is mentioned by the Apostle
Paul in his Epistle to the brethren at Ephesus:

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens
with the saints, and of the household of God;"
    Ephesians 2:19, KJV

Keep in mind that Paul was a citizen of Rome, which was the most powerful empire in the world in its day; and yet, similar to Moses, he was willing to forsake it all, in order to seek the greater rewards of God's Kingdom.

Concerning Moses, we are told in Hebrews:

"By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents,
because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the
king's commandment. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction
with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who
    is invisible."
    Hebrews 11:23-27, KJV

Exactly how did Paul view his former life as a Law-bound Pharisee? Consider this:

"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,"
    Philippians 3:8, KJV

Lord help us all to have that same Heavenly Vision, and keep our priorities straight in this world, because, indeed, it is not our true home. We are
just a passin' through, as we see here:

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is,
an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he
hath prepared for them a city."
    Hebrews 11:13-16, KJV

    Finally, please remember this:

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man
love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
    1 John 2:15-17, KJV
