I changed my OS to ROM-DOS (It's free too)

If anyone wants to share thier Freeware copy I'd be
interested. I'm at fido4cmech(at)bellsouth(dot)net
I had a copy a while back, but the version I had back then
couldn't do much.... Basically it was just a bare-bones boot
disk... They didn't have support for sockets in it... Now
hard drive.... In fact, if I still had my computer
business and could work out a deal to where I could modify
the ROM DOS the way I liked it (without having to sell my
soul to the devil!) I can think of some cool options to add
to the ROM DOS....I could setup some batch files with a
support.... Then you could sell pre-built systems that where
ready to go, all a sysop had to do was plug it in, turn it
on and make any changes they wanted to the system.... Power
failure, not a problem! Hard Drive crash? Not a big
problem, just re-install a hard drive, re-boot, and
re-configure the BBS.... ;-)

I operate my Mailer & BBS under native MS-DOS 6.22, don't
have ROMDOS (yet)
i hear that... did you get my netmail reply?

Now I'd love to have the $$$ to get the developer kit,
Eprom Burner, Source code to a BIOS that'd work on my
machines, etc... And have the ROM-DOS built into the BIOS
on an actual machine of mine.... Especially if they allow
you to add other commands and stuff in the BIOS.... I'm
if I still had my computer business and could work out a
deal to where I could modify the ROM DOS the way I liked
it (without having to sell my soul to the devil!) I can
normal.... Depending on how much room you had and all,
it'd be cool if you could put a basic BBS in the ROM and
have default settings in a file that if they didn't exist
on the hard drive, the BBS would copy it to the hard drive
and then you could modify it from there and add your own
users, etc....
Have it setup for full fidonet and binkP
support.... Then you could sell pre-built systems that

turn it on and make any changes they wanted to the

The only version I could find online costs $30, no free
version available as far as I can see!
That does sound interesting.

It used to be /free/ but now Datalight want's $30.00, I got lucky
and got a version of it before they started charging.
I don't see why they don't just put it in the public
domain.
Cheep skates
I don't have their old freeware version.

ROFLMAO ... temps manger' !
what'd you do with the copy you had?
Up until a few days ago, this was available as a free download to hobbyists and other evaluation customers, but (as Bob mentioned
below) as a free product we were getting many, many different
support calls, and as of a few days ago they decided to try to
help offset this cost by charging for the product.
yep! that'd do it, alright! folk expecting free support from
a commercial entity?? how're they gonna put food on the
table if they spend all their time doing free support...
someone's not got their heads on straight :?

Don't know... Considering I have a free as-is copy, I wont bother
seeking support. ROM-DOS + add-on sockets does work. (mostly)
