All I did Bob was start with a basic setup, then started adding programs to see what works. I found everything I tried so far works, EZ-BIOS, MS Client QEMM and MAX, Squish etc...

MS-DOS and ROM-DOS will work side-by-side too, different /system-files/ need to be loaded, ROM-DOS's *.exe work under MS-DOS but /not/ vise versa.

Got ROM-DOS's sockets working too, IP/TCP Stack, FTP, HTTP and a bunch of other protocols.

I changed my OS to ROM-DOS (It's free too)

It's got a TON load of other options over MS-DOS 6.22 like...

1: Support for 2tb HDD(s) beats MS-DOS 8.4gb barrier
2: LFN (Long File Names)
3: Sockets (IP/TCP Stack, FTP, HTTP, and some other protocols)
4: Embedded OS, can be programed into the system's ROM

if your going to run 7.1 kernel, seems you might as well boot ms-dos 7.1

an e-prom if I had my own burner.... They wanted $150 for the API calls
to use their sockets for dos.... Granted, looks like a great solution

I just installed a packet driver for my 16-bit NIC, then I ran "sconfig.exe" which wrote my socket.cfg. I just played with "ftp.exe" for now, my darn FTP servers keep on timeing out tho.

Wow.. $150.00 hu. Don't think I'll be setting it up in my ROM, just a straight HDD setup. It's seems pretty good OS, I'm still testing a lot of things too.

At least on person on Fido is doing Rom Dos and being successful
at it.

Not me so far. Other than standard dos stuff.

I just found out they now charge for romdos, the single user
version that used to be free.

They are not improving it and not planning a successor. No
updates for a couple years now.
