• warning to vinegar water users

From Richard Webb@1:116/901 to all on Wed Sep 26 18:07:11 2012
    Folks,

Many of us long time denizens of this echo have been turned
onto Bob Ackley's vet's favorite low cost flea preventative, and some of us have even adopted it as an alternative to
    Frontline and other flea preventatives.

Fleas will eventually develop an immunity, I'm sorry to tell you fine folks. My Rottie is infested. THIs is a recent
    occurrence.

This may not be as true of our northern readers where the
fleas might be killed off by winter conditions, but here in
the southland expect that the fleas near you will eventually breed themselves an immunity to teh vinegar water
    preventative. YOu've been warned.

    Regards,
    Richard

It dowsn't work down here because of the humidity and I even asked my vet about
it and she never heard of that working. So, I can only conclude that the colder air in Iowa is a major player in Bob's suggestion.

I give ours a tiny pill called Capstar as needed and it seems to work here. One thing I'd like to point out where pet medicine is concerned. I find it cheaper to buy from the local vet than that place that advertises in TV ads.

And to add to that, mosquitoes.

YEp, as can I. It worked even here until recently, but,
according to my vet just recently even frontline users have
found themselves going back to the drawign board.

I'm not sure what tehse were, but two pills, because of the
size of my dog of course.
I didn't know about the place that advertises on television, as I don't see those ads, as I don't bother with a
    television.

Indeed the skeeters can also be a problem. Our town
government sprays about twice a week for them, but they're
    still a concern.

I warned Bob by voice telephone yesterday to keep an eye on
his many dogs in case his favorite preventative began to
fail up his way as well. HE passes along greetings to his
    usual Fido friends.

    Regards,
    Richard

I don't think it ever worked here.

Capstar can be bought from your vet (the cheapest way) and the tablet strength goes by the weight of the animal, since it works on cats, too.

    You're very busy and I'm not. (-:

I don't hear the sprayer coming around here because I'm sure I'm "dead-to-the-world" by then.

I've been meanning to call him again, but I have a laptop and a mini tower to fix belonging to relatives. One of them is a hopeless cause and the other has a little promise, but I can't tell yet.

    WOuldn't surprise me any.

I think that might be waht this is. I'm about ready to go
get some sevendust to spread around baseboards and stuff to
get any who hatch since the exterminator left. Kathy isn't
real thrilled about the idea but ...

    Even if I wasn't, there's always a good book to read. I'm
leery of those places that sell stuff via television ads
"call our toll free number and ... "

I'm usually still alive when they pass by <grin>.

Good luck with the computers. Would have liked to chat with Bob longer but I was in the middle of a lot of stuff.
