• Wal-Mart refusing service

From Sean Dennis@1:18/200 to All on Fri Feb 5 12:48:36 2010
    Hello, All.

I went into Wal-Mart today to buy some syringes (I normally get them from the VA, but the prescription ran out and there's about a week's lag time before I can get my prescription refilled) and they refused to sell me syringes because I didn't buy my insulin there. I've never heard of that before, even when I was trying to find work as a Certifed Pharmacy Technician. Have any of you ever heard of that from Wal-Mart or elsewhere?

Needless to say, I let 'em have it too. I drove all the way across town to get
the syringes and well, another reason why I hate Wal-Mart. Luckily, the Walgreens three blocks down from my house will at least sell me the syringes I need (even if it's at a rather inflated price).

    Later,
    Sean

I hear Ya, I would feel like You do. OTOH, I know that there are a lot of games being played by drug addicts. I have fought several times at my local Pharmacy and have even had an inquiry, where the result was an employee would take diabetics syringes. Mark them as picked up and then smuggle them out to their drug buddies. It happened to me the first time, I did not think that
way and thought it was just a mistake when they said I already picked them
up. Argued a while and then got them though, not like walmart and totally denied. Second time same thing, But it concluded with the employee getting caught. But if I were You, I'd not go to that walmart unless absolutely necessary for anything.

    Hello, Mike.

Yeah, I'm not happy with them. However, I called my dad to vent and he told me
that I could just drive to the hospital to the outpatient pharmacy, get a number and talk to one of the pharmacists. Since I'm insulin dependent, I can actually grab a box there and go. I'm blessed by being so close to the VA hospital (less than three miles); many people I know travel 2-3 hours to get there.

If I don't get any syringes by Monday, I'll go in there Tuesday AM.

I won't be going back to that Wal-Mart again. If I do need to go to Wal-Mart (which I try as much as I can), there's one across town from me that is rather new (less than four years; I lived here when it was being built) and nicer.

    Sean
