Make sure that they're not adding any sugar alcohols to the mix-that
will give you a bitter taste every time. Real, pure stevia is really sweet; I have a friend who has a stevia plant and I ate a leaf once (that's how they get the powder; dried and ground leaves). It was SO sweet I had to have a big glass of water afterwards. :)

I'll have to check this out Sean.. Usually do see two ingredients or more,
but not sure if they were sugar alcohols or not. Then again, Years ago I
tried what I believe was straight stevia, which was in a liquid form, and it did not taste good to me then either. I'll check..

Is it the Sugar alcohols that make "Most" Sugar free Gum taste horrible? I find very few of them that don't do the same as stevia does to me. Some are just fine, but the majority if I try a new flavor, especially the fruity ones lile berry or such, Blech!

    Have a good One!

Yes, any of them ending in "ol". What's worse is the effect if you
eat too many goodies with "ol"s in them... :P

Now and again the "Wards" strike me....and the good thing is that I did not have to pay big bucks for a colonic.

    Hi, Thom-

Love the name, heh. With me, I've discovered that with my IBS, if I
eat too much dairy in any form, I'm not-so-gently reminded that I need
to ease up on things. With all the medications, if I'm just not plain
careful period, yes, I get reminded.

But I'm doing better and being more careful about what and when I
eat...now if I can just find a job so I can eat better, it'd be great.
    :)

BTW, my blood sugar finally got down to 140 a few times...I just have
to eat only two times a day to get to that level. Right now I've been
skipping meals to make the food last a little longer in the pantry, so
I've been making up for it with more water and more exercise. I'm
losing weight and feeling better, but my doctors are a bit irritated
at me about not eating as much as I should, I guess.

    Sean

Hi folks, I have tried my 3rd version of stevia.. Not for me. I get a bit of
a bitter taste, more or less depending upon the brand. My chemistry just does not seem to like it. I will stick to one of the others. I generally have no problem with them. They say stevia is better for You, but I am of the ilk
of no matter what I do, I am going to die in the end anyway. It seems like everyone runs into that problem. As Redd Foxx used to say.. All You
health freaks, Your gonna look pretty stupid when Your time comes, laying up in the hospital dieing of Nothin!

    Seemed appropriate to me.

Ya gotta eat to get all the stuff your body needs....so I guess the best way is
to eat small portions of the right stuff.

I can no longer skip meals....the damn meds force me to eat, otherwise I get the famous "Low Blood Sugar" events.

I just started teaching at a local senior center....they asked me to join, and I did, since they have some exercise equipment. The also provide lunch.....it's nightmare food..very high in carbs,

To join you need to complete a survey, part of which asks about your eating habits. A social worker called me....she was concerned that I was not eating correctly.....I told her if I ate their diet, I'd get sick as hell.

    Oh well

I've been there Thom... I had some whoppers with Diabetic Nurses who kept telling me, You can't eat Low Carb like You (me) do and have good blood sugar results. I kept telling them as You did, I can't eat the way You want me to
as my BSugars don't stay stable and go way high. Well I will report You to Your endocrinologist! I finally said, go ahead, he agrees with me. That ended the arguments finally. Not only am I able to control my blood sugars on a
high protein diet, which really isn't much more than I would eat if I were eating normal, just without the carbs added to it. I need about 7 ounces of protein a meal, But My blood lipid levels drop and I use a lot less insulin. It's those insulin spikes that can cause the high lipid levels, High Blood Pressure etc. Do I love eating like this most of the time, No.. But then again, most diabetics don't necessarily like to eat like they have to. Everyones metabolism is different. For me High protein works and the regular diabetic diet, does not work as well. So I tell them, You eat Yer lousy half cup of spaghetti, I'll have an extra link of the italian sausage. 8-) I know it is not for everybody, but their's isn't necessarily either. Depends on the idividual.
