• Motives for attacks on Iran.

From BOB KLAHN@1:123/140 to ALL on Mon Jan 17 22:05:42 2011

Anybody notice who wants us to attack Iran?

Israel, yes, but also Saudi Arabia and other nearby Arab Sunni
states. They claim it's because they fear Iran with a nuclear
weapon. Yet it was the Saudis who financed Iraq's Nuke program
back when they did have one.

The Sunni states have long hated Iran, because it's a Shia
state. Al Qaeda hates Iran probably more than they hate us.

The all want us to take down Iran. And why would anyone believe
it's for any reason other than they want the Shia beaten down?

Also, remember, Iran is a democracy. It's heading for
dictatorship as things are going, and that may well be why the
current leadership want to provoke the US. They believe they can
withstand whatever attack the US throws at them, and lose
little. Esp if their nuke program really is peaceful. They don't
lose a weapons program they don't have, the US comes out of it
looking like ****, and probably winds up having to pay to
    rebuild the program.

In the meantime the current Iranian leaders can use the attack
as an excuse to eviserate Iranian democracy, and become full out
    dictators.

OTOH, why does Israel want us fighting Iran? Fear of an Iranian
nuke? Isreal has maybe a hundred. If Iran attacked Isreal with
their one or two nukes there would be no Iran left at the end of
the day. And the Iranians know that. They may be described as
fanatics, but they aren't suicidal. Notice that the suicide
bombers have been Sunni, esp Wahabi.

So why want us to attack? How about, we are already bleeding
from two wars. Iran is a much tougher target than either of the
others were. An attack on Iran might trigger something so
draining either the US will back off completely and disengage
from the region, or let Israel do all the work in the first
    place.

And why would Israel want the US out militarily, but still
subsidizing them? Well, Israel is described as David facing
Goliath, but, in reality, Isreal is the Middle Eastern Goliath,
and the Arab states cannot stand against her. Back before the
1967 war Isreal painted their situation as desperate and asked
for more military aid. LBJ asked the CIA for their evaluation.

The CIA reported back that Isreal will launch the first attack,
and win. They said no Arab alliance could stand against Israel.
And they were right on all points. It's still that way.

So with the US out of the way, and free rein to attack at will,
Israel could beat down the one country the rest of the Arabs
fear, and dominate the Middle East.

Everybody wins except us. Oh and the Sunni nations, but who
    cares about them?

Problem is, Israel can't use their nukes, the US would not
accept that. And they might well be biting off more than they
can chew. Israel can beat any of them in an open war, but in a
war of economic and political attrician they may be weaker than
    they realize.

Once Iran gets the focus of the press, they can also point out
that they supported us in the invasion of Afghanistan, and the
democratization of Iraq. The only Middle Eastern Muslim nation
to do so. Which puts us in an even worse light.

So, just how do we win with this?

And Israel has shown in the past they can sacrifice American
interests for their own. Or, for that matter, anyone elses.

Shouldn't we rethink this whole matter?

    On what planet?

Iran is a Muslim dictatorship, the real power in Iran is held by the
    Mullahs, and their "Revolutionary Guard."

Ahmeadanutjob "won" in an election so fixed and crooked, even Rove was marveling at it.

Iraq is...no. It already is Iran West.

The only difference is there still are US troops in Iraq.

    Yes.

    On what planet?

    On this one.

No, Iran is a democracy. Go back and read up on it. Don't bother
responding until you actually know something.

That's how Bush took power. So what?

And drop the twisted name gimmick. It's tiresome.
