I wonder how much the topic of teacher performance will make the
    national media ?

Maybe it's because of what you left out from the CNS story..

"Nationwide, only 30 percent of public school eighth
graders earned a rating of "proficient" or better in
reading, and the average reading score on the NAEP test was
    262 out of 500."

Why didn't you give the original links?

I suggest that any company that has unions demand two things from the
union: pool their overtime pay and demand pay for performance criteria.
The hand waiving would be breathtaking.

Try that for the CEO's of of the banksters, first.

    Irrelevant diversion.

Like AIG that took billions in bailout money, yet gave huge
bonuses to the same managers who took that company into the
    toilet.

    Irrelevant diversion.

You obviously don't realize it...but that little bit of info serves as
an indictment of the *unionized* public education system in this
    country.

Someone found a correlation, the 5 states that don't have
collective bargaining for teachers, have the 5 worst SAT
scores. (WI is #3, by the way.)

    That one is useful.
