• Toby the old man...

From Janis Kracht@1:261/38 to All on Sun Jan 11 02:50:32 2015
Toby, our 14 year old black lab, is not doing well. He's still happy and smiley, and kissy but the vet told us yesterday he's pretty sick..

He's got trenchmouth.. (how does a dog get that??) and tumors in his mouth and also on his butt (not on his rectum but just below it could cry)..

I called the vet since he stopped eating and lost SO much weight .. I figured it was a tooth, but it's much worse since he has growth in his mouth..

I have to make soft dog food for him which I don't mind (1lb hamburger, 1lb. chicken thighs ground, a potato, veggies ground, 1/2 cup nutritional yeast, can
of fish like mackerl or salmon, 2 cups rice) in patties.. oops the vet told me that was not good enough nutritionally :( I bake the patties for an hour. He eats 3 or 4 of them a day on a good day... not often. Meanwhile he steals Sophie's hard dry dog food when he can Lol

He's such a good boy. He doesn't even know what what it means to be nasty, growl or bite means.

We'll take him to the dentist for doggies... Not looking forward to the results *of the bloodtests she (the vet) took.

Tough one, because he was such a little baby who got we bought him so early...
He wasn't even 6wks old and this slimy guy in KY was selling his pups :( I picked Toby because I was so pissed at this idiot.

Yeah, this is a hard one.

I'm sorry to hear about Toby's health. My parents' tri-color Heeler, Patch, is
quite sick too but they can't afford his medicine. He has some sort of massive
swelling on his hind legs that doesn't hurt him but he has a hard time walking.

He also has a permanent cough and a hard time breathing. He's 14 years old too.

    Later,
    Sean

Thanks for your note Sean. It's so hard to see a dog get get ill.

That's so hard to deal with... we've been there in the past.

Hopefully it's not a cancer.. poor guy, it's understandable that he has a hard time walking.

    :(

    Take care,
