• Figo v. HealthyPaws Insurance

From Rick Christian@1:135/377 to All on Sun Jan 28 15:12:16 2018

    Hello everybody!

I've asked about this before, and after reseach, procrastination, etc.... I think its time to solve this. I've narrowed it down to two

    Figo
    HealthyPaws

Both seem to get good reviews... when you factor in various things, they are pretty similar for the most part.. Factor in the discounts you can get if you look around, and its pretty similar in costs and benefits....

I just really would love to have input from real humans that might have had one
or the other, and had interaction with getting paid, etc... from either or both....

Lots of debate about just setting the same amount aside in a Pet HSA as it were
much like I do for my personal HSA... but I don't know I pay for health care each month and never use it, and only get to use my HSA for my cotacts etc.. so
... seems like its just as good an idea for kitty as it is for me...

Comments any one on either one?? Great if you have had either and used it...

    Thanks!

    Rick

I've never bought health insurance for my pets.. there are times when I wish I had though.. certainly for my pups.. Generally all my pets are healthy though so that's good.

    Take care,

Pet insurance has saved my parents a lot with their dogs. Felix is too old really for pet insurance. They get theirs through Nationwide at petinsurance.com.

If I ever get a young pup or kitten, I'll be sure to get insurance.

I think that is neat that nationwide does pets as well as humans <g>

I would do the same if we ever got a new "young" pet.

Indy has a large sebatious cyst on his chest but I'm not letting anyone touch it right now. It's not bothering him, he's the same playful dog he's always been - if that changes I might have the vets at Cornel remove it.. but they agree it's harmless.

It isn't anywhere that affects his walking or anything else in his life :)

    Take care,
    Janis

Several central Arkansas vet clinics I've seen do offer such. The
medical bills for the pets are just as expensive as for us humans, if
    not more so.

I have a "box calendar" for "Crusoe, The Celebrity Dachshund", which
has a different deal with him and his half brother Oakley, for every day
    of the year.

On my birthday, it shows Dr. Crusoe and Nurse Oakley, noting "Time for
your checkup". All I could think of was "I'm screwed now. They're going
to take revenge on me the way the vets did to them taking their
    temperature!!" :P

    Janis,

It isn't anywhere that affects his walking or anything else in his life :)

That reminds me of the YouTube video, where comedian Jeff (You Might
Be A Redneck) Foxworthy, notes that he has 2 daughters. He continues
that "When I get into the shower, the bathroom is empty. But, when I get
out of it, here are my 2 daughters, and 2 of their girlfriends with
    them!!".

He demands to know what they are doing in there, and his daughter
    says "We're looking for a Hoo-Hoo!!". :P

He tells them "Well, I can tell you that Hoo-Hoo's are extremely poisonous!!". Without missing a beat, his daughter says "No, they're
not...or the dog would be dead!!" <BG>

He laments "I hate smart kids"!! <G>

Well I went through a very rough stint with my last 2 kittys who got very sick,
none of which I am sure was curable. As much as it hurt, I would never want to
treat my kitty(s) or any one just to keep them alive if they were suffering. A
clear cut injury which is treatable different.

But... I think I've decided that I will take one of those reloadbable VISA/MC and just load it up monthly with the equal to the pet insurance, and keep in the safe with my HSA card and use it like I do it for the vet etc. for kitty. I
guess I will have to make sure I watch that kitty is not charging up more catnip! :) ;) ;)

Just doesn't seem to be any clear cut postivies for the 2 that I found were positive, Figo and HealthPaws. But there definitely was some clear cut negatives on all the rest. Additional research also found that there was something that was a personal issue for me with one of them.
