    Hi,

I'm looking for the coders of the BlueWave QWK BBS Door by Cutting Edge Computing.

I'm looking for someone that can provide me a KEY for this BBS door please?

    Thanks!

    Greetings,

I'm looking for the coders of the BlueWave QWK BBS Door by Cutting
    Edge Computing.

they are not around any more, rudi... IIRC, george was in a major car accident years ago... back in the early '90s... 1993 i think... he was not able to continue development after that... i do not recall if he died or not...

I'm looking for someone that can provide me a KEY for this BBS door please?

there is no way to register any of the doors or the reader... they can only be hacked or maybe a keygen used...

Don't quote me, I am just a lingerer, but I do not think there is a keygen for the door. Although I do know I lost my key to my telegard door years ago, and the door still functions. I do think, but can't remember, You may lose some functionality, but for the most part the door will work. I could be totally wrong. Just an observation I have had with my system.

Doors do. But I think with some limitations. Nothing major though. George didnot make the money of the doors. Think about it. There could be a dozen doors, but a dozen readers for each door ( just throwing up a number ) the reader waswhere the money was.

FWIW: please also do not confuse QWK and BW... they are two very greatly different technologies... "QWK offline mail" and "BW offline mail" are much better suited terms and won't confuse others ;)

    Hi Mark,

you haven't said what bbs software it is for but i cannot imagine that no one else would want to use it...

I use now on this moment EleBBS, but i found that there is a bug with the telnet connection and the door.sys or dorinfo.def when a user connects with the internal telnet server from EleBBS then i give a connection of 6550 baud in the door.sys or dorinfo.def and there are some doors that then not work, becoss the not correct baud rate it give out in the door file.

I had a official key for the QWK mail door of coder from Wildcat BBS and try to install it and it works but not with that baud rate, and the only door that i found then was that from Cutting Edge...

But it is oke i will be use it unregistered, i dont have many user that will use the QWK Mail door it is just that i support it on the BBS ;)

you haven't said what bbs software it is for but i cannot imagine that no one else would want to use it...

I use now on this moment EleBBS,

Ele is a RA clone ;)

but i found that there is a bug with the telnet connection and
the door.sys or dorinfo.def when a user connects with the
internal telnet server from EleBBS then i give a connection of
    6550 baud in the door.sys or dorinfo.def

that is not a valid baud rate... is this using a FOSSIL or no?

FWIW: the valid baud rates are...

    110, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 14400,
    19200, 28800, 38400, 56000, 57600, 115200

some serial ports support these higher rates

    128000, 153600, 230400, 256000, 460800, 921600

but they are no valid for our old school BBS operations... in fact, locking a serial port to 115200 in one FOSSIL driver requires one to use 11520 because the baud rate speed value is stored in a word (0..65535)...

you should not "float" your serial connection... you should run it with a "locked" port rate and then let the (virtual) modem handle the actual connect rate with the remote on its own while talking to the local "port" at one specific rate...

and there are some doors that then not work, becoss the not
correct baud rate it give out in the door file.

i don't doubt they won't work with an invalid baud rate like that...

I had a official key for the QWK mail door of coder from Wildcat
BBS and try to install it and it works but not with that baud
rate, and the only door that i found then was that from Cutting
    Edge...

that's weird... unless there's a locked port rate setting...

But it is oke i will be use it unregistered, i dont have many user
that will use the QWK Mail door it is just that i support it on
    the BBS ;)

    ok...

Yes i know i use when open the port Netfoss like to docs descript i have install it.

FWIW: the valid baud rates are...

    110, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 14400, 19200, 28800, 38400,

Yes Mark, i know this also ;)

    at one specific rate...

I dont use a virtual comport i use the EleServ from EleBBS itself and this make a telnet connection on 115200.

But anyway Mark i have found a key for the QWK door and it is new registered!

There is a difference between QWK and BW... Bluewave doors produce BW
offline packets, which can be read only in BlueWave or BW-compatible
readers. The BW (or compatible) readers also read and generate QWK
packets, so they can be used with other bbses that only have some sort
of QWK packets, such as Wildcat. I'm using my BW reader right now to
answer this message. As it happens, it is going to be going to a BW
door, so will stay in a BW format. If I were replying from one of my
backup bbs packets, it likely could have been in a QWK format, as some
of them don't have BW, just QWK. As a user that relies heavily on doing
things offline, I Thank You very much for offering the option. :) If I
were to visit your bbs, offline capability is one thing I look for. :)

Yes i know that door also, but what i dont like it that it has no protocols build in....

personally speaking, i've grown to dislike built-in xfer protocol engines... why? they cannot be adjusted like some of the external ones... some internal ones are too tight in their timings because they were built for dedicated channels like POTS where delays are not as long as they may be on network channels that may be carrying a lot more traffic than POTS channels carried... over the years, i've found only a few external xfer protocol engines that actually work properly on both POTS and network channels... as time has gone by, i've slowly turned off those internal protocol engines and configured my software to use only the external ones... but it takes time and a lot of testing... what may work on an internal LAN may be just slightly too tight to work on WAN traffic from the outside ;)
