If memory serves, wasn't there a client-side utility to convert QWK packets to Bluewave?

Not that I know of. Then again, I'm a fairly new user of Blue Wave.

From my ancient "Bluewave Products List", dated June 2000 [1], I have these entries, two going the other direction:

BlueQWK 1.70 BLUEQ170.ZIP DOS Geoffrey Sy
Converts BW packets to QWK packets.

    BW2QWK 2.2 BW2QWK22.ZIP DOS Ronald E. Raikes
Converts BW packets to QWK packets.

QWacK 0.96 QWACK096.* DOS George Hatchew
Converts QWK packets to Blue Wave packets, and Blue Waver reply
    packets to QWK reply packets.

I do not have a copy of any of these, nor any further details on its availability. Good hunting!

On a related note, I once wrote a converter that converted incoming point message packets into Bluewave packets, and vice-versa. The source code for that
is still available at <URL:http://www.softwolves.pp.se/sw/software/indigo>. It might be possible to hack that making QWK the input/output format.

I've downloaded and added them to my BBS's filebase under BBS.BLUEWAVE. They're
available via email freq also. Thanks for the data. :)

    packets to QWK reply packets.

All of those were only needed with the 2.12 and earlier versions of the BlueWave Reader, which didn't have QWK support built-in. The 2.20
Versions and following have the QWK support built-in so no need for any
utility to convert them. I routinely read and reply to QWK packets in
my BW reader now... as you can see from the lines below, I'm using the
    2.20/DOS version.

You might want to note somewhere that they are only needed (or useful)
with the much older versions of the BlueWave Reader. Building in QWK
support was one of the features of the 2.20 version, possibly one of the reasons why a new registration was needed for that and above. :)
