• Caller ID

From Sean Dennis@1:18/200 to All on Thu Nov 4 19:28:50 2010
    Hello, All.

I know I approached this subject quite some time ago in here, but the replies have been lost to the ever-hungry bitbucket. I am trying to get BinkleyTerm to
record the caller ID information as sent from my USR Courier "v.everything" external modem. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to look for that?

do you have your modem configured to return that information? mine will but i forget how i did it and i don't have CID at this time to check with... my telnet nodes sent it in the connect string which my .bats "decode"...

I'll have to check the documentation. I think it's something like &CID=1 or some such.

yeah... i think that's close... and then i believe that it is tacked on to the end of the connect string but it has been a long time since i've seen it...

    Hi, Mark-

yeah... i think that's close... and then i believe that it
is tacked on to the end of the connect string but it has
been a long time since i've seen it...

After a quick Google search, I found it's #CID=1. I called the BBS
phone number with my cell phone and it works. A good thing to have when
I'm wanting to know who calls the BBS line. :)

excellent! and it is tacked on as the tail end of the CONNECT string?

It can be, but I use a split connect string (AT&F1|AT#CID=1) for myself.

ah... i was thinking of like this...

    CONNECT 19200/ARQ/V34/LAPM/V42BIS_123-456-7890

    or some such...

my telnet stuff does it like this...

    CONNECT 57600/ARQ/TEL FROM WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ

which i'm sure you recognize since you also use SIO and vmodem... or did??

Yes, I use SIO and VModem, but this is how it is shown in BinkleyTerm:

    === Cut ===
    04:01:24 'RING'
    04:01:25 'DATE = 1110'
    04:01:25 'TIME = 0403'
    04:01:25 'NAME = DENNIS SEAN '
    04:01:25 'NMBR = 4239267999'
    === Cut ===

(That was from my actual BT log, but I changed the data.)

That's how BT shows Caller ID.

Yes, I use SIO and VModem, but this is how it is shown in
    BinkleyTerm:

ahhh... that would seem to indicate that BT is analysing the data and breaking it out for you... that or you are using the multi-line CID setting (IIRC)... i've always just stuffed all of mine on one line because my .BAT analyses the dobbs.bat instead of executing it... it is just another data file in my setup :)

I believe this is dependent on how the modem reports the information to BT.

    Hi, Andrew-

I believe this is dependent on how the modem reports
    the information to BT.

I couldn't find too much information about caller ID and the Courier so I just took a generic string I found via a Google search and tried it.
