Hi Ed,
The day I tried to grab DV386_3H.ZIP IIRC I first went to ASK.COM and
did a Search for http://cmech.dynip.com/BFDS and McAfee SiteAdvisor gave
the results a Red Mark and WOT (Web of Trust) gave it a Yellow Mark.
The results had something about FILEGATE.ZXX in it.
www.filegate.net/info/filegate.zxx was the URL shown in the result list.
Oh geez, talk about overly warped virus stuff :)
filegate.zxx is the list of file echotags for the FileGate distribution :)
So I entered the address www.filegate.net/bfds in firsfox and got a Pop
Up from McAfee Site Advisor NOT to go there.
That's even more ridiculous :) All the files on my site have been tested (more
than once) and are ok.. I use F-PROT to test the files for viruses.
Like that one:
===
bbs@filegate:~$ fpscan -r /home/ftp/pub/bfds/DV386_3H.ZIP

====
I clicked to go ahead to Janis's site anyway and downloaded the file.
I checked the file out at a CMD prompt with Pkunzip -t DV386_3H.ZIP to
TEST the file and it didn't find anything, so I used Windows Explorer to Extract it and it couldn't do it, so I deleted the file.
See if you can find pkunzip.. it's a freeware version of zip. Over here, that archive has files in it:
====
bbs@filegate:~$ unzip -v /home/ftp/pub/bfds/DV386_3H.ZIP Archive: /home/ftp/pub/bfds/DV386_3H.ZIP BJr

I'll send You a email and get it that way.
I see that the daily reports for Your BBS show no problems on it.
Is Janis's site getting Redirected to filegate.zxx or is that the normal address for filegate?
Nope :)
I always thought it was just www.filegate.net .
It is..
There was a time when some windows games in Gamesnet had some virus reported by
one site or another, but those were false positives too.. (very old files).. I deleted all of them out of frustration and reported that they were 'gone' to various sites.. guess it wasn't "enough" <sigh>
Take care,
Janis
