If anyone is wondering what happened to the NASA articles I post here as much as I am, I've been receiving the following from their site for several months, even though I have been a subscriber for many years:

The Science@NASA list is being upgraded. It is currently unavailable but will be back soon!

I got the last article from them on 31 May, 2016 and I had to go to the site to
get it. Evidently the list I was on was purged and the fact that nobody is doing anything about it is a little troublesome, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it and neither should you.

NASA might be keeping a low profile right now since they were exposed
phony-ing up temperature data, which satellite data strongly refuted.

Turns out most of their temperature `monitors' were deliberately located in `heat sinks'; close to large, active airports (constant jet-engine exhaust, heavy motor vehicle traffic, etc), large cities...you know, `cheating' to
    fudge the numbers.

And yes! it DOES have to do with the title of this echo, as creating phony
data to support a large overall scam that costs taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars is
is certainly about as *FRINGE* as the science gets!

Coming soon to a rocket near you:

    A Xenon-Ion propulsion engine -- top speed 90,000 MPH!

Locate the test plant near a large `heat sink' and watch the `global warming' numbers go up!

If you don't invite critical discussion of the subject matter pertaining to

yup... the problem, as noted previously, is that some sysops build their message bases from the backbone.na list but there is no way for their software to update their areas from a new copy of the file... once built, updating the titles and descriptions is a manual thing and there's no notification of differences between the new file and the old one...

    NO! I haven't.

BUT!!! I've seen message traffic in here about planets and Solar activity,
so those `subjects must be *ON TOPIC* here.

It is the SUN which drives various forces on the Earth which alters climate here, as well as various influences from non-Solar System sources, such as sudden bursts of energy from space that happened so far in the distant
past that the dinosaurs still roamed the Earth, and their effects are just
    now arriving here.

Not only that...the SUN itself has so many `cycles' about it that Man hasn't even been able to accurately time some of them (we either haven't existed
long enough to know of the existence of some of them...or are too young technologically to have enough data on them to gain anything of value from their operation in the overall Solar science).

The relative `blink-of-an-eye' of Man's existence as a civilized society,
and the small extent of the study, measure and records-keeping, in relation
to the existence of the Solar System as a whole, and the Earth's evolving
of intelligent life, is hardly anything to base any `science is settled'
    claim on.

It wasn't that long ago we were `supposedly' heading into another Ice Age
    (the mid-1970'?).

The weather affects everyone. So does the climate.

There's no reason these things can't be discussed rationally, without a bunch of insults and threats. At least not that I see. Your mileage may vary.

In any case, I've seen message traffic on Solar System activity in here, so discussion of Solar activity must be *on-topic* as well.

AFAIAC, it is ok, CG... this is an inherent problem with the style of using NA files to build one's message areas... especially when there's no mechanism for updating existing areas' titles and descriptions from updated NA files... that the NA file is generally also created from the ECHOLIST contents adds an additional breakage point when echos' titles and descriptions change... especially when the NA file is not updated unless specifically notified and manually done...

as far as the tussle goes, it was simply one user pushing others' buttons as they are known to do at times...

will have more information on that if needed... i'm just a long-time echo participant and stepped out to solve the problem of the area's title on one system ;)

    echo's name/description on his system ;)

    Sorry for all this Mark:(

like i said above, you're ok... i'm fairly sure that roger will add a little bit to the conversation but at least the echo now has the proper title and description on your system :)

your sysop used an old list when they created the areas on their
bbs... your sysop needs to rename the echo on their system so they
have the proper name on it... your sysop is the one that needs to
    FixTheirStuff<tm>...

I appoligize to this echo for this misunderstanding from my
system. I was not aware of a name change, as I do not read this
echo. I set FidoNet up on my system over a year ago, and thought I downloaded the most recent FIDONET.NA at the time. The name change
has been done on both of my systems as of last night. I take this
and my system seriously. Again, I extend my appologies to all.

Apology accepted. Have you received the two NETmails I sent to you?

Whatever. Since `discussion' isn't allowed in this echo I'll not be
    posting in here much.

Am I to understand this is a read only echo. If so, let me know,
and I will make the changes on my system.

It is not, but if you read what I wrote yesterday, maybe you will understand more.

    Regards,

    Roger

Nothing as of yet, but that's not unusual. It seems to be a breakdown before my hub somehwere, and I rarely get netmails. If you still have a copy of them, you can forward them to ValhallaHomeServices (at) comcast (dot) net

or just send it DIRect like i did with mine from this point system ;)

edit: NVM, i see you already did that :) what name was it addressed to? in a default basic installation, synchronet and some other systems will simply delete mail arriving there for unknown user names... i addressed mine to "sysop" because i know that synchronet does handle that one and send it to user
    #1...

I have moved the echo to Science Research News as I have been made aware that this echo is titled wrong. I created my echos from an old backbone.na that was in the older SBBS archive that set them up.

My apologies... I am going through all echos... just have had my hands full setting up newsgroups... and etc.
