I have long known that the galaxy we live in is no doubt filled with
stars that have inhabitable planets revolving around them in just
the right position to allow life to begin.

The notion that we are the only planet in the entire vast Universe
inhabited with intelligent life is close-minded in the extreme.

The only reasons that we haven't as yet detected signs of intelligent
beings on distant solar systems is the speed of light at which broadcast traffic equal to or more sophisticated than ours, is restricted to, or
are of such an advanced nature that we HAVE detected them without knowing
    what they are.
