Wait.....I wonder if he sent that letter to Clinton before or after riding up to GHW Bush at an intersection in Sheboygan (of all places!)? Maybe what he
was `taking Bush to task' over was the former president's failure to write
one, too!

Stan, when I heard the whole story about this Rector fellow, I actually
wrote to Clinton at the WH, SEVERELY critisizing his allowing Rector to be executed. > (I got a form letter in response, big surprise, eh?)

It looks like Sauer's response somewhat mellowed in the past 6 months.
From SEVERELY critisizing (sic) to a grip.

As I said to Stan, I don't remember 100% whether I sent it to Clinton RS>before or after he was inaugurated.
So my memory is fuzzy on the detail you mention also.
