I drive a lot (50+ miles a day) and am looking for a car that can hold 4 adults and 2 kids (4 and 10 years old) comfortably -- occasionally, for short trips. My parents are getting older, and I'd like to be able to
drive them and my wife/kids places.
It really boils down to personal preference.
Are these highway miles? Suburbans get at a solid 17mpg on highway. Durangos get slightly better, but are not as large.
I have found that if you drive mostly highway, MPG shouldn't be as much of a factor. Here is what I average - MPG wise on my trips to work on the various vehicles we have.
2002 Monte Carlo: 29.3mpg
2001 Dodge Durango: 18mpg
2012 Charger: 28.5mpg
2012 Lexus ES-350: 27mpg
2003 Harley - Dyna Wide Glide: 53mpg
